Officials say four people, including a 5-year-old child, were killed in a violent head-on crash in western Kankakee County on Thursday night.

According to the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department, deputies were called to the scene of the crash near the community of Reddick at approximately 10:20 p.m. Thursday.

When those deputies arrived on the scene, they found two heavily damaged vehicles, one of which was completely engulfed in flames, according to officials.

There were two individuals in each of the vehicles, and all four of the individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Eyewitnesses told deputies that a Honda Accord was driving recklessly prior to the crash, crossing the center line repeatedly and passing other vehicles before slamming head-on into a Chevy Equinox
