State pensioners are on the brink of breaching the HMRC Personal Tax Allowance threshold and paying tax to the Labour Party government. As such, the government is being implored to AXE the Triple Lock.

An increase to the state pension could leave thousands of pensioners less than £23 away next year - if the current projected State Pension metrics hold.

The IFS Pensions Review, published in July argued that the triple lock should be replaced. IFS director Paul Johnson said: “The current generation of retirees is, on average, doing much better than any previous generation.
