MARION, Iowa (KCRG) - A new documentary premiering Saturday explores the role Collins Aerospace engineers played in creating the internet and sending the first message over the network.

“The Collins Story — The Internet Connection” will show at Collins Road Theatres in Marion with screenings at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Admission is free.

The film tells the story of Collins Aerospace engineers who were involved in the creation of the internet. The documentary also covers their role in sending the first message transmitted over the internet.

Additional screenings are being planned around the state for those who cannot attend Saturday’s showings.
