HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- The Spencer County Sheriff's Office is investigating an animal cruelty case.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to a report of possible animal cruelty in a remote area near County Road 400 North, West of Grandview at 3:06 p.m. on Friday. The sheriff's office says deputies discovered a red Doberman Pinscher lying on its side, deceased and tied to an underground pipeline indicator pole.
Deputies say the animal suffered at least one gunshot wound to the head. Deputies say evidence at the scene suggests the dog was brought to the location, tied to the pole using a new collar and leash, and then fatally shot.
The sheriff's office says the Doberman appeared to be a young adult, in good physical condition and scanned for a microchip, but one was not
