ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -- A week removed from state regulators suspending a requested distribution rate hike, a power company is telling customers their generation rate is now going up.

PPL Electric Utilities, in an email to customers, said the generation rate, also known as the Price to Compare, will be going up to 12.953¢ per kWh on Dec. 1, up from 12.490¢ per kWh.

Bills are split into two rates: the distribution rate and the generation rate. The distribution rate is charged to all PPL Electric Utilities customers.

Customers, however, can shop around for a different generation rate, hence the term "Price to Compare."
