Toledo Walleye goaltender Carter Gylander has gone from wide-eyed rookie to a veteran presence in just 365 days.

Gylander starts his second season with the Walleye as their most seasoned goaltender. Just last October, Gylander was a 23-year-old first-year player looking to find his way in the ECHL.

“I'm still a young guy, of course,” the now 24-year-old said. “By no means do I consider myself a grizzled veteran, but it's nice to have that little bit of familiarity and comfort.”

After completing his college career at Colgate University, Gylander paired with Jan Bednar to form Toledo’s goaltending tandem last season.

The native of Beaumont, Alberta, played in 34 of the team’s 72 regular-season games. He posted a 20-9-4 record with two shutouts and a .907 save percentage for the Central D
