The Boston Red Sox reportedly aren’t considering making a change to Jarren Duran’s position in 2026.
Duran played left field last season, but was selected as an infielder in the MLB Draft. Although the Red Sox could use an upgrade at second base, Boston isn’t considering moving Duran to second, according to The Athletic’s Jen McCaffrey.
“We got a few questions about this possibility, but to my knowledge, it’s not something the Red Sox are considering,” McCaffrey wrote about Duran moving to second base, in a piece published on Friday.
“Duran came up through the minors as a second baseman, and in theory, it makes sense as a solution to the team’s problems. But given he’s never taken infield reps in the majors, I think it could worsen the team’s infield defense rather than help.”
