It took a remarkable turnaround under a first-year head coach , a hard-nosed win over a longtime rival in the regular season finale and a gutsy goal-line stand when the chips were down.

But, for the first time since 2014, the Junction City football team has captured the Sky-Em League championship.

Junction City beat host Marist Catholic, 17-10, in a thrilling, season-defining win on Friday, Oct 31. In the process, the Tigers secured a 4A first-round home playoff game that will afford their seniors at least one more opportunity to play at William Peden Field.

Not bad for a squad that finished 1-8 a year ago.
