A female doctor posted in Phaltan, Satara committed suicide on October 23.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the suicide of a woman doctor from Maharashtra, following orders from Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. The SIT, led by a woman IPS officer, has been directed to begin the investigation immediately.
The doctor, posted at Phaltan Civil Hospital in Satara district, was found dead in a hotel room on October 23. She had accused an MP’s two personal assistants and Sub-Inspector Gopal Badne of pressuring her to issue fake medical certificates.
In a suicide note written on her palm, she alleged that Gopal had raped her four times over five months, and that a software engineer, Prashant Bankar, with whom she lived, had mentally harassed her.
