MATTHEWS COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) - Two grenades were found in the Moon area of Matthews County while someone was cleaning their shed on Halloween evening, according to the Matthews County Sheriff.

Deputies were sent to the location and observed the grenades before sending the preliminary photos to their Explosive Ordinance Disposal team.

Matthews County deputies then made contact with Virginia State Police Bomb Technicians, who responded to the scene from Chesapeake

Following a quick assessment from VSP the Navy EOD's team was then called, which determined one of the two hand grenades as a High Explosive yellow marked grenade. The other grenade was deemed as inert, with damage to the outer shell.
