Kentucky mourns the loss of former Gov. Martha Layne Collins, the state’s first and only female Governor. She was 88 years old.
Gov. Andy Beshear made the announcement Saturday morning on social media. He called Collins a "powerhouse" and noted her accomplishments during her time as governor, including bringing Toyota to the United States for the first time.
