Friday night Vanguard football walked out of Booster Stadium with a 19-6 win over Forest high school. The regular season finale opened up new chapters for so many athletes and coaches.
For head coach John Brantley it's the first time he’s been in booster since his walk off state champion win over Chaminade-Madonna in 1974. Despite the loss he’s ushering in a new football era, keeping the game within two touchdowns for the first time since 2020.
“It's been a while since I've teed it up against Vanguard and everything,” Brantley said. “To be back here at Booster Stadium's kind of special, you know, this is where I walked off as a state champion, 51 years ago. And it's just a neat place to come out and be a part of the history that's a part of it.”
