A man has been fined more than £7,000 for fly-tipping in Warwickshire . Waste had been dumped in Atherstone .
Shopowner Al-Bana had reportedly been refurbishing his Birmingham-based shop Lab Convenience. But he failed to ensure that his items were disposed of in line with regulations.
Rubbish was later dumped in a layby on Coleshill Road in Bentley, blocking access to an arable field. Officials from the North Warwickshire Borough Council launched an investigation into the fly-tipping.
Al-Bana, from Birmingham , was sentenced last week under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. He was fined £7,166.
Anyone caught fly-tipping in North Warwickshire can be fined up to £50,000. Offenders could also be sent to jail.
