BROOKLYN — There are a handful of teams that head into the cross country state championships with the real possibility of achieving the ultimate goal.
But, it’s another thing to go out and make it happen on the kind of scale that features over 250 runners, 27 teams and on a stage as grand as Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
At the end of the Division 3 state finals on Saturday, Nov. 1 stood Charlevoix’s boys atop the podium, raising the program’s bar with their first state championship in the sport in 34 years.
That wasn’t the only title the Rayders celebrated on the day, however, as junior standout Hunter Eaton claimed an individual state championship, the first within the program in 36 years.
