Two people have tragically lost their lives following a single vehicle crash in County Durham. The incident, which involved a Ford Ka, occurred on the A167 at Ferryhill around 1.40am on Saturday.
The car is believed to have veered off the road and ended up on a BP petrol station forecourt on the opposite side of the carriageway. Despite receiving medical assistance, both a man and a woman were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Their families have been notified and are currently being supported by specially trained officers. It's thought that the car was travelling northbound from Chilton towards Thinford at the time of the collision.
