MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The grace period is over.
From now on, if you're caught speeding on a Memphis Police Department (MPD) speed limit camera, you may be required to pay a fine.

MPD put up 30 cameras at 15 locations, including high-risk intersections, S-curves, and school zones, at the end of September. Speeders caught on camera have been issued warnings, but that ended Friday.
Now, speeders may be required to pay a $50 fine if they're caught going more than seven mph over the posted speed limit. The cameras capture a vehicle's license plates and send those images to an officer through a secure video. An officer then reviews the footage and determines if a citation should be issued.
