CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 49-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday night in a domestic incident in Strongsville, authorities say.

Police said the woman suffered gunshot wounds at a home in the 22000 block of Rock Creek Circle about 8 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Gene Tomcho, 74, holding a handgun, police said.

Officers told him to drop the weapon, but police said he turned it on himself and fired. Paramedics treated the woman and Tomcho, who is from North Ridgeville. The woman later died at MetroHealth Medical Center.

Strongsville police did not release the victim’s identity or details about what led to the attack.
