With a new CEO at the helm this year, the United Way of Tarrant County is rolling out a new battle plan to tackle some old problems.
He says they’ve narrowed their focus to key areas, including:
* EARLY CHILDHOOD LITERACY: Powell said there’s a third-grade literacy crisis in the county, which can be tied to long-term outcomes like homelessness/incarceration. * FINANCIAL INSECURITY: A third of residents are living paycheck to paycheck. * MATERNAL MORTALITY RATES: Fort Worth ranks the 2nd highest in the state for black women maternal mortality. The United Way hopes to address disparities by improving access to care with technology and system coordination
