Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Admiral DK Joshi (Retd), has said that the Union Territory is fast evolving into India’s “Gateway to Southeast Asia” and a significant player in the global blue economy. Speaking recently at the India Maritime Week 2025 in Mumbai, Admiral Joshi, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Islands Development Agency (IDA), underlined the strategic and economic importance of the islands in strengthening India's maritime vision.
"The Andaman and Nicobar Islands is emerging as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia and the global Blue Economy, advancing the ideals of adventure, sustainability, and digital transformation," he said.
