KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One man is dead and a woman has serious injuries following an early morning crash in Leavenworth.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the crash was reported just before 4 a.m. Saturday in the area of North 7th Street and Shawnee Street.
KHP reports the driver of a 2008 Chevy Corvette was speeding eastbound when the car went airborne, became unstable when it made contact with the roadway, rotated and hit a curb, tree and building.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead on the scene and has been identified as 41-year-old Jeremy Head.
A 32-year-old female passenger was taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries.
Neither the driver or passenger were wearing seatbelts, according to KHP.
