WARE SHOALS -- Abbeville added another milestone to its storied program, securing its 10th consecutive region championship with a 37-16 victory against previously undefeated Ware Shoals.
The Hornets, however, started hot early in the first quarter when quarterback Jayden Johnson connected with Brennan Goode on a 28-yard completion. Energized by the fireworks and the home crowd, the Hornets went for the two-point conversion, putting Ware Shoals up 8–0.
“We came out, kids did what we’ve done each and every week. Played well, moved it down,” Ware Shoals coach Chris Dodson said.
Ware Shoals’ celebration was short-lived. On the kickoff, Jamearion “Sweet Feet” Williams took the ball 76 yards down the field, giving Abbeville an immediate answer and shifting the game’s momentum.
