FOREST, Va. (WDBJ) - Three residents experiencing headaches were evaluated by EMS after a gas leak Saturday, November 1, according to Forest Fire Department.

Forest Fire Department responded just after 2 a.m. to a fire alarm at Cottontown Manor for burnt food. Firefighters say they detected a strong gas smell at the front door.

Upon entering the premises on air, the SENSIT Sniffer device indicated a lower explosive level (LEL) of 100%, signifying a high risk of explosion or significant fire, according to firefighters. Firefighters say the tower ladder chauffeur promptly deployed two battery-powered fans for ventilation.

The cause of the leak was a burner on the stove, according to firefighters.
