MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Grizzlies have suspended star guard Ja Morant for one game due to conduct detrimental to the team, the organization announced Saturday.
The suspension means Morant will not play in Sunday's matchup against the Toronto Raptors. The team did not release further details regarding the decision.
The move comes one day after the Grizzlies' 117-112 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, where Memphis surrendered a 14-point lead. Morant struggled in the game, finishing with eight points on 3-of-14 shooting and seven assists. Afterward, he appeared visibly frustrated with members of the coaching staff and gave short answers to reporters.
Through six games this season, Morant is averaging a career-low 28.5 minutes per game.
