Surrounded by wreaths, ribbons, and Nativity scenes, Helenmarie Evanko of Drums wiped a few nostalgic tears from her eyes.

“It reminds me of when I was little,” she said on Saturday morning as she roamed through Christmasland — 12 rooms of Christmas decorations on the second floor of Main Hardware & Discount Pool Supply Inc., 642 South Main St., Wilkes-Barre.

Saturday marked the first day of the 50th anniversary season for Christmasland, where Main Hardware owners Brian and Kim Kaminski will welcome customers every day through Christmas Eve.

This is the fourth holiday season for the Kaminskis as owners of Main Hardware, which happens to be where they met as teenage co-workers in the 1980s.
