Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas rose in the legislature on Thursday morning to “remind the Ford government of the health crisis in smaller communities.”

“In early October, I received an angry email from Lisa, whose mother Charlotte lives in Capreol,” Gelinas said. “She asked, ‘How can it possibly be acceptable that seniors in Capreol are waiting nearly six months for basic healthcare?’

“Her mother had routine blood work done in May, but after the clinic cancelled her appointment, the next date offered was Nov. 6 — six months later.”

Gelinas said she brought forward multiple funding proposals to the Ministry of Health from the Capreol Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic, which needed money for another NP to handle the load, but the government refused. Instead, the clinic had
