NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A local woman did something absolutely incredible, she hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro, all while living with Parkinson's.
Natasha Kane is now raising awareness for the disease through The Michael J. Fox Foundation and Team Fox NOLA.
"It was an eight day hike. Took us five days to go up the mountain, and then two and a half days going down," Kane said.
The 40-year-old took her bravery to new heights when she hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, back in September.
"Kilimanjaro is hard especially coming from below sea level to a peak of 19,000 feet. Getting used to the altitude is very difficult," she said.
Kane was diagnosed with Parkinson's when she was 32 years old.
