DIAMOND, W.Va . (WSAZ) - The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association in an investigation involving potentially loose and neglected pigs.
The investigation took place Friday evening.
Deputies had previously warned the resident about livestock trespassing.
When deputies returned to the property Saturday, they found about 20 pigs in a fenced-in area with access to food, water, and shelter. None of those pigs had any signs of neglect.
The resident told police she had been separated from her husband was working with a licensed livestock rescue group to rehome the pigs. Deputies were able to confirm the rescue’s involvement.
The resident cooperated with the investigation and consented to the removal of the pigs.
