Edna Karr and John Curtis ended their late-season battle of unbeatens with a bigger picture in mind.
Coaches and players from both schools walked off the field following the 48-26 victory for Karr with the thought that there is more to play for in the coming weeks.
For Karr, the win was another step toward staying undefeated and keeping the No. 1 spot in the LHSAA Division I power ratings, which would give the reigning state champion Cougars the top seed when the playoff brackets are announced next Sunday.
For Curtis, the loss made clear the cost four turnovers can have against one of the top-ranked teams in the nation.
