SEATTLE — Boeing will be back in court on Friday, facing a lawsuit brought by dozens of passengers who were onboard a 737 MAX jet when a door plug blew out mid-flight last year.
An attorney representing the 46 passengers claims Boeing should be held legally accountable for the physical and emotional impacts of the incident.
Boeing attempted to get the lawsuit dismissed last May, but a judge rejected the motion. Friday's hearing will be to establish Boeing's liability for the door plug blowout.
A preliminary NTSB report on the blowout showed that four bolts that were supposed to secure the plug to the fuselage were accidentally left off during work performed at a Boeing factory in Renton. Boeing then sent the plane for delivery to Alaska Airlines without catching the error.
