With a furious second-half rally and 23 unanswered points to close out the game, the Queen’s Gaels beat the host University of Windsor Lancers 36-25 in the Ontario University Athletics semi-final Saturday.
The Gaels trailed 25-13 in the third quarter and their offence was struggling to pick up so much as a first down. But Queen’s quarterback Alex Vreeken connected receiver Logan Walton on two long-bomb throws on consecutive downs, the first 48 yards down to the Windsor 39-yard line and the next in the end zone.
Drawing to 25-20, Queen’s took the lead early in the fourth quarter, again with a long-gainer. Running back Jared Chisari had spent almost all of the second quarter on the sidelines, but if there had been any injury issues, there was no evidence on the 60-yard touchdown run that p
