SEATTLE — Seattle police are investigating after a security guard allegedly shot a 27-year-old man outside a Pioneer Square nightclub early Saturday morning.

Officers were near the nightclub in the 100 block of South Washington Street around 1:45 a.m. when they heard gunshots. Witnesses reported the club's security guard had fired his weapon.

Officers detained the 25-year-old security guard after he dropped his firearm and removed his ballistic vest.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

The security guard was booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault. Police have not disclosed what led to the shooting.
