Highland High School students Scaret Lovell, Judith VanKleeck, Gisella Shaut, and Ava McNamee were recognized by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) for their musicianship.
Lovell was selected to perform with the NYSSMA All-State Jazz Ensemble on vibraphone in December in Rochester. Only 20 students statewide are chosen for this elite ensemble — an honor that reflects Lovell’s remarkable skill and dedication.
In addition, VanKleeck (drums) and Shaut (string bass) were named alternates for the 2025 NYSSMA All-State Jazz Ensemble. Shaut was also selected as an alternate for the All-State Symphonic Orchestra on string bass, and McNamee was chosen as an alternate for the All-State Mixed Chorus.
