Saugerties Junior High School student Ryker Darmanin was recognized with a Pride of Ulster County Award for his winning artwork in the county’s “I Voted” Sticker Contest.
Darmanin is a former Grant D. Morse Elementary School student. His creative design is featured on stickers distributed to voters across Ulster County this election season. His artwork features a giant slice of New York pizza taking over the Statue of Liberty’s face, set against the backdrop of the New York City skyline. The imaginative design brings humor and local flavor to the act of voting.
Darmanin said in a press release that his inspiration came from a conversation years ago with a staff member at the Boys and Girls Club. When he asked her what her favorite food was, she replied, “Pizza.” He followed up with, “Ani
