NUTTER FORT, W.Va. (WBOY) — As the federal government shutdown continues with no resolution in sight, and questions are raised about a judge's Friday ruling ordering the Trump administration to fund Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, many West Virginia families have been left without food assistance.

In response to the situation, Governor Patrick Morrisey directed the West Virginia National Guard to establish pop-up food pantries across the state to help meet residents’ immediate needs. One of the pop-up distribution sites was set up at the Nutter Fort Volunteer Fire Department, where Guard members provided more than 200 boxes of canned goods to local families.
