CHELSEA, Mass. —

More than 100 families flocked to La Colaborativa in Chelsea, Massachusetts, for food donations as uncertainty over Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits continues.

On Saturday, the line stretched down the street and around the block.

"This is what hunger looks like," said Gladys Vega, president and CEO of La Colaborativa. "What I don’t want is anyone to go hungry during the nighttime."

The Chelsea-based nonprofit provides resources and support for the Latinx community.

They're now helping to fill a funding gap with food families would have purchased with federal food assistance that ran out on Saturday.
