The Laurier Golden Hawks are heading back to the Yates Cup — but not without surviving a second-half surge from the Guelph Gryphons.
Canada’s top-ranked university football team built a commanding 27-0 halftime lead, only to hold off a furious rally to win 37-30 in Saturday’s OUA semifinal at University Stadium.
“At this time of year, you don’t look at it if it’s a pretty win or an ugly win,” said Laurier head coach Michael Faulds. “Ultimately, one team’s cleaning out their lockers, the other team has bought themselves another week.”
Asked point-blank which one this was, Faulds didn’t hesitate.
