Man and woman found dead inside apartment in Fairfield

Two people were found dead inside an apartment in Fairfield Saturday early morning, the police department said.

Authorities report officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 3700 block of Lyon Road at around 3 a.m. for a welfare check after multiple callers reported hearing gunshots.

Responding officers arrived to the apartment and found a man and a woman deceased, according to officials.

Police said preliminary findings suggest this may have been an apparent murder-suicide, but the investigation remains ongoing with the official cause of death to be determined.

Officials add there is not active threat to the community.
