A citywide prayer walk was issued to all spiritual leaders and people of faith in the Erie area, uniting the community for a call to justice.
Organizers said that this call to action went beyond denomination, race or title, inviting all believers to pray as one.
Participants walked to key locations to pray for government, schools, family and neighborhoods, with a special focus on justice in the community due to current events.
Elder Sharon Newell, a representative from Greater Calvary Gospel Church, said that prayer is a peaceful yet powerful way to advocate for what's right.
Newell said, "Prayer works. The prayers of the righteous of much according to the word of god, and prayer changes things, in civil rights, any movement, prayer works."
