WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - A busy Saturday at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds as volunteers spent the morning digging, driving stakes into the ground, and planting a total of 45 trees.
“Just a great improvement down here at the fairgrounds. It’s a great time,” said Mike Lumbis. “We’re glad that the rain stopped. We got the trees in and it’s a good day.”
You may know Lumbis for his role at the City of Watertown Planning Department, but he’s also a part of Tree Watertown. For more than 20 years the volunteer group has been doing this, beautifying the community one tree at a time.
