Desperate for its first victory in the Big 12, West Virginia did much of what it had yet to against conference competition to this point in the season on Saturday afternoon against No. 22 Houston at TDECU Stadium.

The Mountaineers avoided an early deficit and instead played from in front, forced four turnovers and scored a defensive touchdown for the first time in 2025 and converted all four fourth down attempts.

Together, that was enough to prevent West Virginia from trailing in a 45-35 victory over the Cougars.
