FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Osiris Shrine, based out of Wheeling, hosted its first-ever 5k in Fairmont Saturday morning, seeking to raise money for the national philanthropy organization.

The race welcomed more than 80 runners and walkers, including its virtual and in-person participants. Osiris organized it with the help of the Marion County Race Series and the Marion County Running and Walking Club. The event helped raise money to assist the Osiris Shriners in their philanthropy work.

The club's main form of philanthropy is supporting Shriners Hospitals for Children, which has 22 hospitals and 150 clinics in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The hospitals have cared for more than 3 million children, regardless of their ability to pay.
