The Richland County Sheriff's Department (RCSD) has reported that two minors were shot in the upper body during a bonfire party in Blythewood on Halloween night.
According to the RCSD, the incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. in the 11000 block of Wilson Boulevard. Witnesses at the scene estimated that more than 500 people were in attendance at the bonfire when the shooting happened.
Both victims were transported to the hospital by EMS.
Remarking on the shooting today in a Facebook post Blythewood Mayor Sloan J. Griffin III stated, “ The Town of Blythewood is deeply saddened by the incident that occurred late Friday night along Wilson Boulevard, where two young individuals were injured during what should have been a safe night of trick-or-treating.
