(FOX40.COM) — Fairfield police reported that a pedestrian is in a local hospital with major injuries after being hit by a car in Fairfield on Friday night.

At 10:14 p.m. on Sunset Avenue, officers responded to a traffic collision involving a pedestrian walking north of East Travis Boulevard. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with major injuries.
The driver, 57-year-old Monte Parker, was arrested for driving under the influence.
Police are actively investigating the circumstances of the collision.
