MANKATO — Through two periods, the Bemidji State women’s hockey team fended off Minnesota State.
The Mavericks weren’t denied in the third, though. MSU scored twice in the final 20 minutes to beat the Beavers 2-0.
Kamryn Van Batavia broke the ice 54 seconds into the third frame with assists from Taylor Otremba and Makayala Moran.
Mercury Bischoff, the 2025 Ms. Hockey Winner out of Grand Rapids/Greenway, made it 2-0 late in the third period with helpers from Lucie Tenenbaum and Sophie Stramel.
In her third consecutive start for the Beavers (2-5-1, 0-5-1 WCHA), Ava Hills made 31 saves. Kaydence Roeske recorded a 25-save shutout for Minnesota State (6-5-1, 2-5-1 WCHA).
