Celebrating cancer, domestic violence survivors with makeovers

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Hairstylists, makeup artists, and other professionals volunteered their time to give women, who have overcome adversity, makeovers.

The Celebration of Survivors event happened at the Citadel of Deliverance Church and was aimed at lifting up women in the community.

At the church all Saturday afternoon celebrity stylists were in attendance to give completely free makeovers to women who have survived breast cancer, domestic violence and infant mortality loss.

Perhaps the most important message that was given at the event was just how important confident women are to communities.

Bishop Linwood Dillard, the senior pastor at the Citadel of Deliverance Church emphasized how women are the backbone for many, if not all, communities in Memphis and around the country.
