PORTLAND, Mich. (WILX) -Consumers Energy is set to begin a planned power outage that will affect Portland residents starting at 11 p.m. Saturday and last until 8 a.m. Sunday
During the outage, crews will install and connect new power lines from their existing system to poles that will serve the city’s new substation.
The Grant Street substation is expected to be operational in spring 2026. Consumers Energy said the new substation will strengthen the city’s electric system.
