CLEVELAND, Ohio — Hathaway Brown fell just short of a state championship at the OHSAA Division II girls cross country state meet, finishing as runner-up for the second consecutive year at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park in Obetz.

The Blazers scored 161 points, just three points behind champion Watterson with 158. Senior Anna Prusak led Hathaway Brown with a second-place individual finish in 17:51.92, improving from her third-place showing last year. Sophomore Caroline Valentino also contributed to the team’s strong performance, placing 27th with a time of 19:01.77.

Northeast Ohio was well represented across all divisions at the state meet. In Division II, Wadsworth placed fourth, Hudson fifth, Aurora sixth, Tallmadge eighth, and Rocky River 10th.
