CONNECTICUT, USA — The Red Cross urged Connecticut residents to test their smoke alarms while they turn their clocks back this weekend .

Daylight saving time ends on Sunday at 2 a.m. , when clocks will fall back an hour. The Red Cross recommended that people should also make a note to ensure their smoke alarm devices are working.

Rebecca Johnson, regional disaster officer of American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island, said working smoke alarms reduce the chance of a home fire turning deadly.
