Hours before future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer took to the mound to start Game 7 for the Toronto Blue Jays, fans inside Rogers Centre were already declaring the 2025 season a success.

Josh Carlson, who drove up from Rochester, N.Y., with his friend Jared Roth, said that when the team opened their campaign in March he had low expectations.

“Pretty much it was no expectations,” Carlson told the on the 100-level concourse. “Now, here we are in Game 7 of the World Series.”

Roth, who played on the same American Legion team as Blue Jays third baseman Ernie Clement “about 15 years apart,” said that this year’s Blue Jays, which lead the league with 49 comeback wins, constantly gave him something to root for from his home across Lake Ontario.
