MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont SNAP recipients who did not receive the state’s supplemental benefits Saturday should expect payments by November 7, according to state officials.

The state has approved a temporary, state-funded contingency benefit to ensure Vermonters maintain access to food during the ongoing federal government shutdown.

State officials say the money for 15 days worth of benefits will be issued on or before November 7, meaning recipients who did not see the money Saturday will still receive their payments.

The Vermont Foodbank received $250,000 for local food shelves to ensure residents have access to food if payments are delayed.

Recipients with questions can call 2-1-1 for assistance.
